North Sea Decommissioning - Banff / Kyle

CNR International (U.K.) Limited (CNR International) as field operator and Teekay Petrojarl Floating Production UK Ltd. as the Floating Production Storage & Offloading (FPSO) and Floating Storage and Offloading (FSO) system providers, worked closely together to extend field life and maximise economic recovery at the subsea Banff and Kyle fields. When the fields were no longer economic CNR International submitted an application to the Oil & Gas Authority which resulted in their permanent Cessation of Production on 1 June 2020.

Decommissioning Programme Phase 1 Activities

In June 2020, the joint CNR International and Teekay Petrojarl Floating Production UK Ltd. Decommissioning Programme for Phase 1: FPSO and FSO sail away was approved. This involved the flushing of pipelines, disconnection of risers and moorings systems from the FPSO and FSO, creating a clear water column and sail away of the FPSO and FSO.

Decommissioning Programmes: Phase 2

The following year, the Decommissioning Programme for the subsea infrastructure and pipelines was approved following a comparative assessment of environmental, societal, technical, safety and economic factors of potential options. The execution of decommissioning activities is currently in progress.
