Ninian Field granted Brownfield Allowance status by the UK government, extending its life and postponing decommissioning plans for Ninian Northern as a result.

A second stakeholder workshop was held to review the draft Comparative Assessment Report on the recommendation to be taken forward in the Murchison Decommissioning Programme. While there were questions about the topics under discussion, issues raised by stakeholders had already been addressed and this was acknowledged by those attending the event. Follow-up invitations were issued to all stakeholders, whether or not they have attended the workshop, to invite further comment and questions. Papers from the event are accessible here.

A stakeholder consultation workshop on the Decommissioning Programme for the Murchison platform was held in Aberdeen on 14 March. This covered the emerging findings from the pre-planning studies to date and highlighted where issues are starting to emerge in the development of the Decommissioning Programme.

The EIA scoping report for the Murchison field is the first stage of completing the environmental impact assessment process. The May 2011 report describes the key project characteristics with a brief outline of the environmental sensitivities arising from the Murchison decommissioning process. The report is being made available to encourage early discussion with all interested parties and provide focus for the later full EIA process.
